Mary in the Bible
Does the Bible Tell us to honor
Mary?
Our Lord's last words, as for any dying
man, are the most important; Our Lord, dying on the cross,
tells St John and ourselves "Behold Your Mother!". Our Lady
asks us to do whatever he tells us, and Jesus tells us that
Mary is Our Mother. Ignoring Mary, is not obeying her Son. He
left the best for last. No wonder Mary tells us that all
generations will call her Blessed.
Is Mary, Mother of the
Bible?
Since, the Church,
under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, is the author of the
Bible, and Mary is the mother of the Church; by extension, we
can appropriate the title of Mother of the Bible to Mary. And
in fact, it is the old Eve, who through her disobedience,
initiates the reason for the Biblical Revelation of Salvation
History. And it is Mary, who through her acceptance of the Holy
Spirit, introducing the Messiah to this world; and it is Mary,
who is revealed as the New Ark of the Covenant. in the 12th
Chapter of the Book of Revelations, the final book of the
Bible.
Is Mary Queen of
Revelation?
Mary has the unique
role of revealing Jesus and His will to us in the Bible. It was
Mary, who revealed Jesus to Elizabeth; it was Mary, who
revealed Jesus to us and the Wise men at the birth of Jesus; it
was Mary, who discovered Jesus in the Temple teaching the
Jewish wise men; it was Mary who told the servants at the
wedding to do whatever Our Lord tells them.
This direction
of Mary reveals to us, God's Kingdom and its requirements for
entrance. It is to the credit of Mary's good servants that,
under her direction, they listened carefully to this unusual
command from Jesus, and obeyed it, bringing forth wine from
water. And it was at the crucifixion, that Jesus revealed Our
Lady to us, as Our Mother.
